Urinary Tract Malformation Produced in Rat Fetuses with Trypan Blue

Abstract
For the study of urinary tract malformations, trypan blue was injected to pregnanted Sprague-Dawley rats with different doses at different developmental stages. The fetuses obtained by Cessarean section on day ¢¥20 of gestation were dissected microscopically and then many urinary tract malformations which were hydroureteronephrosis, renal hypoplasia, renal agenesis, and renal anomaly of location, rotation and form were able to be observed under the stereomicroscope. Also above anomalies were examined histologically.
Following results were obtained:
1. Resorption of fetuses and growth retarding effects were increased following the increased doses of trypan blue, but time of injection was more important in production of the malformations.
2. Following the increased doses of drug and early injection, male fetuses were more produced. So it seemd that famale fetuses were easily rorpted.
3. Congenital hydroureteronephrosis were produced by the time of injection rather than the doses of durg, but other urinary tract malformations were produced by the doses of drug than the time of injection.
4. When the doses of drug were increased and early injected, anomalies of organogenesis and disorientation of the parenchymes were increased.
